Happy Late Valentine’s Day

For my Valentine’s Day I had a wildly inappropriate tea party. I say wildly inappropriate because when I discussed my party planning with my British boss he gave me a quick run down on a proper British tea time. Despite my lesson in culture from across the channel I still seem to have broken all the rules. I say rules are made to be broken, and when it comes to tea parties, deviance is sweeter than ever!

“An American tea party? I bet you are going to have cupcakes aren’t you?“

No overtly gaudy decor….

“Heart shaped tea sandwiches?” – “Fingers only.”

Champagne strictly prohibited at tea time…perhaps Russian teas are exempt from this rule?

Well, I guess you can never go wrong with roses.

“And lox and cream cheese tea sandwiches, can I cut those ones into hearts?” – “We would never think of serving such a thing!”

Despite all the rule breaking my guests enjoyed themselves, and that’s all that matters.

Even after all the previous day’s decadence, I still couldn’t resists making heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes for Valentine’s Day Sunday brunch.
