The Quai de Bourbon is one of my favorite places in Paris. In the heart of the city of lights on the Ile Saint Louis it opens upon a breathtaking view on the banks of the Seine and the Hotel de Ville. Not only is the Quai de Bourbon home to the most coveted real estate in the city (if not the world) but it’s also the home of my dear friend Samantha. I love the walk across the river from my place, strolling over the Point Marie on my way to Chez Sam. Here she is once again so kindly lending her classic beauty as a model for the Bardot Boutique. It is no wonder how my favorite Lebanese blonde got her looks…her Swedish grandmother was Miss World!

It’s always so hard to take the Sunday night train back to Paris and leave the Luberon behind. The thing I always miss the most is being outdoors in fresh air and nature. Moving from California I never understood how much I would miss that, and even now I never fully realize until I am outside in Provence listening to crickets and birds chirp, feeling the sun on my skin and the mistral winds blow through my hair. At the end of the summer I always feel a bit anxious, like I didn’t take full advantage of the time or the weather and it’s almost as if I begin missing these moments before they have even passed. Summer time and the livin’ is easy…If you have been reading Bardot in Blue for a while then you already know my love for eating well. Luberon life in the summer is one of leisure, taking the time to enjoy all the delicious things in life is one of my greatest pleasures when I am there. Fresh produce, big brunches, sipping rosé pool side, and the local restaurants or the tastiest part of summer in Provence…

Back in Paris now all I want to do is jump into these pictures and be back in the Luberon…sun on my face, freckles out in full force, splashing in the pool, eating well, and feeling free and playful like Brigitte…press play!

It’s that time of year where Paris is empty and everyone heads to warmer locals in search of rest and relaxation. I was lucky enough to get at least a couple days in the Luberon. Everytime I come here I leave a little piece of my heart and fall more in love with this place and life here. I love in the film A Good Year when asked “Are they good memories” about his childhood in the Luberon, Max replies “No…they’re grand.” I couldn’t agree more. I absolutely adore this film and if you don’t know Provence at all, or even if you do like me, it’s a must see movie. This place is magic in all its simplicity. There are no words to describe its enchantment, and no photos that can capture the feeling here. Nevertheless I will try by sharing mine with you in my next couple of posts.

In the village of Lourmarin there are so many cute little apartments…

In late mornings we stop for a café at Chez Gaby.

Usually we have headed into town to pick up some fresh summer’s bounty.

A stop by the boulangerie to pick up some pain au chocolat and bread for lunch and dinner later. Doggies have to wait outside.

That’s where I met this cute little guy.

I imagine what it would be like to have a simple life living year round in the tiny village in an apartment like this one, walking down the street to work every morning.

Each and every time I go I see something I didn’t notice before, like this old paint they are charmingly let fade away above this store.

In the summer there is a carnival in the Tuileries gardens at the heart of Paris. I never really have been one for such events, they always creeped me out a bit to be honest but something about this Parisian version was not at all creepy and incredibly charming and fun. Mademoiselle Samantha and I played around a bit and felt like kids again! Here’s some photos of the action. It took me a long time to decide what song to include with this post but I finally decided since Samantha and I are both California girls to throw this petite chanson in there…just click play!
